The Salvage Auction Range Rover Project is Finished, but unfortunately lasted a few miles before it went into limp mode and clearly has a significant issue that would take considerable time to figure out and fix. I don't think its worth it anymore and I'm sending it back to either the scrap yard or salvage auction to try and recoup some of my money.

  • Lyrics to WAP: (There's some hens in this house) x4 SEnewss Certified Tech All my cars are wrecked Wrecked As$ projects ALL MY FIXES NEVER CHECKED!

    • @August Billy damn! Took like 10 minutes but it worked!!

    • i dont know if anyone gives a damn but I just hacked my girl friends Instagram account using InstaPortal. You can find it by Googling for Instaportal account hacker if you care

    • Money pit, haha Range Rovers, far too many electronic components

    • Land Rovers wasn't built well from factory a guy name Vernon has a classic car dealer in Miami bought a new rover for his wife she didn't make it home it broke down

    • @Shekhar Moona I know what happened! Rich was over there and Sabitoged the Rover! Haha

  • It’s the first time I’ve seen footage of a downpour in one of sams videos. When I was in Florida, especially in September it used to rain at 5pm every day like clockwork.

  • Coming from England and an ex Land Rover owner I can tell you, get rid of the bloody thing. They just dont last, and, as you have found, they cost an arm and a leg to fix, if you can get the proper parts. As we say in NZ, if you want to travel to a destination in style and luxury, buy a Land Rover, if you want to get back, buy a Toyota Land Cruiser. Much better vehicle. I speak from experience, Japanese are better in the long run.

  • You messed up not having a garage or a barn. I think you have to have a garage to buy one seeing as that's what it calls home.

  • BMW? ok, but it's a 4 door.

  • Over here in the uk the Diesel Range Rover is popular and very reliable

  • Hey Samcrac, why don't you buy a land rover discovery 3 or 4 diesel versions and see if they are easier to fix or more realiable

  • Why the hell do you keep buying pieces of crap to fix? Everyone knows and has known for decades that land rovers are complete pieces of shit. I feel like every car you finish is put together with duct tape and bailing wire and fails again shortly thereafter.

  • Your a dumb ass trying to fix the range rover. Tow it to a boat ramp hook up a boat and trailer go down the ramp and don't stop. wait for truck sinks.good bye range rover.be sure you put full insurance on it.

  • After all that effort did you think of testing the resistance in the coils? Coils that are dying breakdown under load. Also the harness plugs for that sides injectors/coils should have been checked.

  • Sad to not see a heroic resurrection, but also satisfied to see another reminder to not "throw good money after bad"!

  • LS swap the M5.

  • I guess it's a little late for this, but unfortunately Range Rovers are good for 4 years or 80,000 miles then you junk them!

  • You should of just ls swapped the range

  • Disappointing that 1) you didnt do the mechanics yourself to avoid those mistakes by other mechanics - disconnected bits and loose exhaust, O2 sensor - all shows a degree of sloppyness, so what else did they do wrong? 2) you didnt get to the bottom of the error codes. Sounds like timing not set right or O2 or cam sensor problem. Also no mention of checking fuel pressure to make sure HP pumps working ok. I’m still tempted to buy a Range rover 5.0 myself to do videos fixing any problems. That Jaguar engine is awesome overall (it’s a Jag engine design, only manufactured by a ford plant as a subcontract job)

  • Buy used engine with warranty... cheaper

  • 🤣🤣🤣 drowning in wap

  • Hey Samcrac, i'm a "motorhead" enjoying all your video's, i love your in depth research on mechanical mystery problems, and your drive to solve them. OMG i would have given up on the I8 long before you, and int this case completely agree : damage controll mode.

  • Told you so

  • We’ve all. Even there at some point.

  • If a land rover breaks on a trip, the TRIP ID OVER. IF a Chevy or Ford or Tesla breaks on a trip it is easy to fix .

  • My friend's Land Rover spontaneously combusted while he was driving down the freeway. The reliability on the damn thing was so poor he actually carried spare parts in back.

  • Its a range rover, its normal to start your Day in service or garage... 😂

  • Built “ford tough”. Then validates why ford is shit .. Range Rover is built by ford .. (Tata motors) worlds cheapest vehicle builder .. Don’t believe me google it ..

  • the videos of the cars you can't fix are way more interesting than the videos of the cars that you can easily fix Sam keep up the good work.

  • It’s a Range Rover what did you expect?

  • That failure shouldn't be much of a problem since all the issues are on the same side - since all your leakdown test were good it can't be anything but timing or ignition... if I was gonna guess I'd be guessing something to do with the computer controlled valve timing - those systems are controlled by pulse modulated solenoids to control the oil delivered to the device that actually moves the cam shaft to adjust the valve timing ... or it could be as simple as several failed coils ... I have seen engine fail 4 out of 6 coils --- just takes someone with the proper knowledge and the right kind of scope to read the signals - even the factory scan tools can't do what a good automotive oscilloscope... operated by a knowledgeable mechanic or controls specialist....

  • at least you were totally honest which I appreciate. After this sad saga I would run a mile from these cars, I honestly didn't know how bad they are!

  • If the intake air temp is way too high (no cooling after going through the supercharger) then you're going to get misfires all over the place

  • I cannot believe that you picking the TWO Most reliable easiest n cheapest cars on earth to fix you still not managed to, after all its Not as if you picked a dead horse like a Toyota Honda Peugeot diesel my 205 did 210,000 n then I had to spend spend spend Diesel fuel pump solenoid valve £60, break pipes replaced real end both sides £18 each n even a battery even my Peugeot powered 1.4 diesel Fusion had 2 injectors leaking at 80,000 miles still 50 to the gallon in town n over 65 on the open road not too bad I guess, no sir you picked the Best, may I suggest a Jaguar for your next project sir? another open pit money saver

  • Perhaps SEnewss needs to install an F-it button. I would vote to F-it on that car. Been there, just done. Done is done.

  • Here is the math "If Make = Range Rover, the END" I've never met anyone in my entire life who ever said anything good about a RR. It's the Edsel of the new millennium

  • fix the m5

  • Sounds like water damage

  • Anyone who buys a RRover new is nuts. Anyone who buys a broken RR is certifiable. (See masochist)

  • Just ran away from land rovers folks

  • What year is the rover

  • Should have just ls swapped it 😂

  • Boy you.sure know how to pick them😀

  • English pos designed to steal ...yt trying to cover it up....fu yt

  • Range Rover have a very poor reputation. Only people with deep pockets buy them and they can either afford the bills or they dump them. Better off buying a Toyota.

  • With a vehicle with multiple banks that loses one side and has exhaust leaks typically means a clogged cat. Take the rover to a shop with a detailed scanner and have them look at the pre and post cat o2 data. If you don't want to do that there are some less technical ways to test them you can look up on Google.

  • I had a similar problem on a car I had and it turned out to be a sensor expanding when it was hot and working again when it was cold. The cam sensor was replaced even though it tested ok and it sorted the problem. I understand your frustration. Take time out to meditate on the answer. Good luck.

  • As a subscriber I think your doing the right thing. Time to cut your losses and get rid of the headache!

  • don't need to subscribe when youtube algorithms has your videos as "recommended" viewing

  • Tbh. The one channel that promotes their sponsors properly

  • Anyone buying these car brands are simply crazy... They are not worth it.

  • THESE CAN CATCH FIRE, DONT THEY

  • When a garage takes your money to do something, and it isn’t done, that garage should have said we don’t know, and not charged you. But when they took payment from you to diagnose and fix issues, and it lasted only a few miles, they fucked up.

  • Dumb question... why not replace the engine?

  • Interesting and honest content. Thanks Sam..

  • So I'm thinking the whole block and heads are warped in a way

  • Get rid of that M5 and keep the M3.

  • Sometimes you gotta cut and run.... if you're really smart you'll avoid buying range rover their quality and reliability are of legendary proportion notoriously Bad .... step mom it's going to be unhappy you didn't finish though

  • The range rover needs an LS swap. Really, on a long enough timeline, all projects lead to an LS swap.

  • Mechanics stethoscope. The good ones have a removable diaphragm for finding air noises. Mine paid for itself hundreds of times.

  • Sucker for punishment.

  • after watching your vids, who pays for all these mistakes, i've not seen a success yet to make a profit

  • Send it to DIAGNOSE DAN he will sort it 🤩

  • How do you find dropped nuts, bolts & tools in that long grass?? 😃

  • Take it to Mexico to an stablished place, they can repair mostly anything for a fair price, or just throw a carburetor and put analog gauges.

  • That’ll be the last Rangie that crosses your path. Garbage motors.

  • as a mechanic for 25 years we call Range Rovers toilets on wheels.

  • Ls should alw, always, be your number one go to.

  • The timing chain could have been stretched beyond speck from the valve strikes .

  • As a Brit I can confirm that only an idiot runs an old Range Rover.

  • Wouldn't it have been cheaper to buy one of the rebuilt engines from that refurb place you referenced?

  • I've learned much through your trials and tribulations! - Much appreciation!

  • I'm sure this has already been mentioned but perhaps you forgot to reinstall the log under the supercharger??

  • Hey Sam Good luck with this rover Meanwhile What are those sun glasses I really like them Thank you

  • Should a burned it

  • When I had problems with my 2011 Supercharged it threw codes for multiple misfires and they changed the maps sensor and it fixed. They had previously changed the gaskets and when they returned it to me it said multiple misfires. I took it back and they vhnaged that sensor and that fixed the issue. It had been smoking and low power that ended up bieng manifold seal.

  • Sam next time replace the engine and be done with it

  • 4:04 video starts here

  • Range Rovers are LEMONS. This is one of your most valuable videos in fact because it demonstrates how utterly challenging and pointless trying to fix these basket-case cars can be.

  • Hey Sam send me that cold air intake off your BMW I will gladly repurpose it

  • I woulda replaced assembly lol

  • Unsubscribed ....ever thought about just putting a Ford engine in it?

  • European automobile manufacturers still hate their customers more than American automobile manufacturers hated their customers in the 80s.

  • Do the M5 it s a beast

  • I don't subscribe because you don't show your animals enough.

  • Refreshing candor on your part Sam. You've probably heard or thought of this , but it may be the timing chain(s) / belt jumped a single tooth ???

  • Why don’t you tie up with ChrisFix & maybe get this challenge worked!??

  • just replace the motor

  • Love the channel but hate all the YT notifications I get already from subs I just don’t want more

  • No hard feelings here I feel you you Sam I would give up to you can't just spend spend spend and no return and all the great people you have had on the car some times you just got to wash your hands with it

  • Just ask Scotty range rover are huge money pit that are not reliable

  • Junk it, those M5s are cheap for a reason

  • I have a Chevy Express that was throwing an intermittent 'random misfire' code that my mechanic couldn't catch in the act. I took my scan tool and checked the 'freeze frame' data at the point that it set the code. The difference between short term fuel trim and long term fuel trim was way out of spec: The long term fuel trim on bank 1 was +9 and the short term on bank 1 was -7. The short term fuel trim is governed by feedback from the upstream O2 sensor. Seems the bank 1 upstream sensor was failing to see oxygen in the exhaust stream so the ECM was reducing the pulse width to the injectors on that side of the engine. Once it leaned the mixture out enough, the engine began to misfire. I copied and stored the freeze frame data from two events. Once I figured it out, I replaced both upstream O2 sensors and the problem disappeared. Both bank 1 and bank 2 short term/long term fuel trims are within a few percent of each other. I thought of that when you pointed out that the upstream O2 sensor was unplugged.

  • Hey. Can I have the car? I love working on these cars

  • Junk yards in the uk are NOT full of Range Rovers . I wonder why you never look at an American vehicle , maybe because they’re the worst vehicles on the planet .

  • Did you not speak to this 'mechanic'?

  • Hey Sam, what's the name of the diagnostic tool that you use? I see it connects to your phone.

  • new cars= Bad quality / dosent last long. old cars= lasts a decade , slight rust on the body, engine strong as hell.

  • sam is my type of guy who never fixes any oil leaks permanentely but cleans the oil leak everyday.

  • I had a problem "similar" to that in a more simple car, a 1.8i 16v. A lot of missfiring error codes and a lot of headaches... In the end it was just the catalytic converter, it was broken.

  • 👎

  • Great car to drive and the best looking in the market (uk) unreliable soft engines in all the range even if getting serviced properly, this perhaps would have been a body off job for ease of access... enjoyed the video thanks ..

  • Having owned a Land Rover Discovery 3 V6S, the old Ford engine, my recommendation is that you don't ever buy another Landrover or RangeRover ever again. They are rubbish, problematic, temperamental, prone to mysterious mechanical issues, they break down, the suspension drops, the gear box reports errors, the hand break seizes and the repairs are ridiculously expensive. They are junk.

  • With this kind of money, you could have just buy a brend new one.
